That looks like Ballyi Minnie to me. I have one, some of the plants are really small. I also have regular Ballyi which is much larger. Just my opinion . :)

Mine are in 50% perlite and 50% cactus mix.

Thank you for the details. I've messed up a bit and did give it some water today. I'm north of San Antonio, Tx and put temps have been pretty high over the last several days since I potted it. I did make sure the soil is very well-draining and it is currently receiving morning/mid-morning sun and afternoon shade based on my understanding of the exposure it came from. Since I just potted it up yesterday, should I pull them out of the soil and let dry for a few days before I repot?

I would unpot it now because (from what I can see in that shot) it has no roots. A plant w/ no roots cannot take up water, so is likelier to rot, so pls. pls. pls. do not water it for a week, a few days at least.

Pls. know that the thick leaves are holding water in reserve (that's what makes it a succulent). So w/out you watering, the plants can subsist on the water they contain until they start setting roots. When you see new growth, you know for sure they've rooted.

Now you need some patience, just watch & wait pls.

Thank you! The only thing that looks like a root is the stilt-like thing but you can see sticking up from the top in the picture. So should I put it in dry soil and wait to see roots or leave it just out somewhere on A shelf until I see roots? Would the same apply to my deuterochonia which I do see roots on? I also have a stapeliad cutting with no roots but it was already shriveled when I received it. Should I just most it with water or remain patient for roots?

I agree, your plant is a ballyi, very possibly a Minnie. There are lots of variations on ballyi, so it's hard to say for sure. The stilt like thing at the top is a root. When you plant it, the stem part doesn't need to go in the soil, just the nice root you already have growing. Ballyii has been easy for me to grow and mine puts out lots of these pups, so I am sure this is a root. You can start watering a few days after planting. Sans love the hot weather, so I think it will do well for you. Part shade is good in the hot Texas climate.

Thank you! I reoriented the pups so the root is in the soil. No I will hope the rains hold off for a few days. I have a nice dappled shade spot under a live oak for pretty much all my plants.
