BTW...I believe the plant is Siam Silver with pups through the holes of the pot. It looks like there's another 2 pups waiting to break out. I'm over the moon because this has been on my want list since my Sans Affair began. And now look...creepy crawlies. I've sprayed it with a Dawn and water mix, now it's drying. I plan to bare root it and start over with fresh soil and pot. I want to make sure the bugs and eggs if any are gone before I start fresh.

I can't see the bug really. Try looking up thrips and see if that's it.

Thanks! It does look like a thrip during a part of its life cycle. But then it kinda looks like a baby silver fish. Not positive, so I went out to look for more and I don't see ANY! I poked and prodded the soil, checked inside the leaves and don't see any. Hmmm....could soap and water (plus some direct sun) have killed em that quick? Still gonna wash all the soil off and keep it quarantined.

That's gonna take some careful cutting to get the pot off without breaking the pups. You can do it Katrina!

Thanks for the vote of confidence. I got the pot off and washed the plant. This poor thing only has soil in the middle and it's very hard and compacted. Tomorrow's challenge will be dividing it and getting those pups potted properly. Not sure how to handle them since the roots are beside the crown and not under it like I'm used to seeing.

Looks great. Lots of nice roots. Show us your new potting tomorrow.

All potted up. Took close to an hour to separate it because it was as though the rhizomes were major organs and the roots were major arteries. That was tough surgery. In the largest pot, it looks like the big plant is leaning because of the position of the rhizome. I couldn't cut it because there's a pup coming on the end.

And not a bug in sight!!!

Lookin good. Did you know, Siam Silver is also known as Tenzan? Another plant with more than one name. I think there is another one, Manolin that may or may not be the same plant. I really do like this one, very beautiful!

Barb, I have Manolin, it's a different plant. I love my Manolin but it hasn't really done much in 8 months.
