How fun, Linda! I can only imagine how fund having grandkiddos is! Some day ...

I am helping a friend with a quilt for her son who is getting married in October. It has been a challenge because she really isn't a quilter and she wanted to use 9 photos that had special meaning to the couple. I came up with a design for the photo squares and they are about 20", so the center of the quilt is approximately 60" x 60". She has done the sewing so far and I have been helping with squaring up. I am making 12 star blocks using some of her fabrics so we can enlarge the quilt to 96 x 96 then a final border. She is leaving on vacation tomorrow with DH and 2 grandkids and won't be back until AUGUST!!! We will have to hustle then to finish up for the Oct. wedding. I have 6 finished and 6 to go.

I think I will try to sandwich another UFO top and quilt it between hanging out with DH.

Well, I should really take a few hours and clean the house, but other than that I plan to do the same as Linda - SEW! LOL

I AM going to finish this stole today! I told DH I'm not coming out of the sewing room till it's done.

It looks like it may be a pretty rainy, dreary weekend around here, so I may get some piecing done on my Antique Star quilt. Star count - 49 down, 35 to go. I could also take a break from that and put the border on a child's quilt that will be given to our first great-grandchild when he's born this September.

No big plans for this week-end so I'll have time to sew. I have the Patch Pal Puppy together and the checkerboard borders completed, but have to buy some red for the inner border. Except for washing, the Train quilt is ready for gifting.

Donna, For me, cleaning the house consists of moving the dust mop across the hardwood floors. lol

Trying to get some plants in the ground. I am soooo behind this year. But while I Waited for DH to Bring home some soil, I cut some pieces for a few blocks. it is so humid for this early in the year, our energy is being sapped and we aren't moving too quickly. Staying inside as much as we can but you can't plant from inside. Bring on the rain and the cool!

I'm so sorry, Donna. That's a call I expect one of these days and I know it will be hard.

After a long quilting dry spell of travelling to tend to Mom, and then a trip to France with friends, I finally dragged out the Allietare and finished up the binding this weekend. And, yes those are rounded corners which I sometimes prefer. I'm glad to get that done and move on to other things. I plan to clean sewing room, haul out the large quilting frame and sell it, and lay things out for more space. I seem to prefer my longarmer now days. Upward and onward.

Do rounded corners mean bias binding?

One of my girlfriends and her hubby will be in France soon, too. He won a trip to England at work, so while they are "across the pond" they are tacking on a few days in Paris. I'm so jealous!

Donna, I'm so sorry for your loss. I found out once you've lost your own mom, you can feel others' pain so much more.

Last night I cut out and started sewing (after washing fabric-LOL) the D9P batik quilt for the children's home. I gardened five hours today, so need to get up the energy to shower, finally eat some lunch, and then get back to sewing. Two 9 patch down, 18 to go. It's nine different fabrics, crazy mix of colors, but it is for a child so I think they'll like it.

Linda, love the Allietare. I'm not familiar with the pattern, but it is beautiful and so are the colors.

The Allietare was Bonnie Hunter's mystery quilt last New Years, Donna. And, as to rounded corners Theresa, you can use straight binding sewn loosely for give, or bias. In this case, I used straight up to the corners and then patched in a bit of bias just to go round the corners. But don't always have to. I let the longarmer sew down one side of the binding. Then I take it home and take the corners out, cut it rounded, patch in another bit of bias binding and put the second side of the binding down by hand.

Toolgranny, I love your quilt. The colors are just great.

I have been deep in flowers and yard work amongst the constant rain, which we never curse in SK. I started a new flowerbed last fall of strictly lillies and a few iris and one new variety of Shasta daisy that grows 24-36" tall. They all grew and I am anxious to see them flower this summer.

I have done 3 string tops and one I really messed up myself. I was using a minkee type backing and after I spray basted the 3 layers, I forgot to add pins to secure it while I quilted on my domestic machine. I thought it was a write off but I managed to selvage it with only one spot having a couple puckers showing on the back. I going to take another break now!
