They do fine. They grow here in the bay area blooming in summer. Not much of a foliage plant..kind of weedy looking. Prune for shape. Warm,and sun for them. Do not let go dry.

I grow mine as a house plant, but I had one planted outdoors in inland Orange county. It curled it's leaves when it was in the sun, but was happy when I moved it to the shade.

Yeah, I thought the ones at the garden center looked a bit leggy. So it's the kind of plant that goes to the back of the garden and is grown for scent, not looks? Jxbrown, how does it do as a house plant?

It's a fine houseplant. It was quite large until it defoliated while I was on vacation last summer (two and a half weeks is too long without water), but it's regrowing nicely. It just finished a bloom cycle. It blooms off and on, but it only takes one flower to know that it's blooming!

Mine gets a lot of light, but no direct sun. It might be a bit less leggier if it were outside, but it's not bad at all.

I love the foliage and use the leaves for tea. Very easy plant, I put mine in shade to keep the roots cool, mulched to keep moist, and let it grow into the sun. Basically grow it like a lily.

Funny this old thread was revitalized! David, I finally bit the bullet on an Arabian jasmine last summer. Same deal -- it was one of those almost dead plants that the nursery was just trying to get rid of. Think I bought it for a dollar. I have it planted in the ground. I didn't think it survived the winter and was going to pull it out but noticed some tiny little green buds. It's not exactly growing like crazy, but it has leafed out. I'll post a pic later today of how it's doing. I have it next to a fence, facing West. So it gets filtered morning sun, then like 5 hours of sun in the mid day, but it's sort of tucked among flax lilies so it's somewhat protected.

Which nursery did you buy it from ? I’m trying to get one in Orange County CA
