If you brought it back from Florida to, say, Yemen, you can plant it in the ground. If you brought it to, say, North Dakota, cactus soil is too heavy, you will have to cut that with about 75 percent pumice or it will be miserable in winter. This is the range of your options.

If you have a seedling (plant less than a year old) and you are having to water every day, it probably needs to get bigger digs.

Where are you located? Assuming you're in the US, because it's almost summer, you can get away with what you originally propose ... for now until you can get a better substrate (gritty mix).

Let the current pot dry so you can lift everything out without disturbing the roots ... I call this a "semi-repot" because you're not disturbing the roots. Place stones in the bottom of your new pot for drainage. Add soil just so your little tree is planted at the right height and fill in. In other words, you'll be placing the entire thing (tree + orig soil) in the new pot. Be careful not to plant deeper than it originally was. Also, only water when dry ... stick your finger in the soil at first so you get the right watering schedule for your pot / environment.

Lastly, but most importantly, follow fakechuchi's advice as we near fall. When you do so, check the roots to make sure there are no problems. And do tell where you are located. And do post a pic of your new baby ... Congratulations & happy growing.
