Certainly does not look cheap if done properly

as far as trendy only time will tell. i wouldnt do an entire 2 story house in wood plank tile unless its at the beach where tile is the best option no matter the style.

High end wood look tile is beautiful & timeless as long as it is chosen & installed well. As with everything, there is a right way and a cheap way to do this.

Thank you to everyone for your input! It's great to get some outside perspective.

We are also considering rectangular tile (12" x 24" or larger???) or square tile. We are looking for a bit of a unicorn....flooring that is super durable, timeless and has a luxurious appearance. I really like the wood look tile, but have come across a lot of poor executions where the floor screams "I'm trying to be something I'm not" and appears cheap to me. The very few I have seen that are well done look very nice, I just worry about how ours would turn out. Its my understanding that the grout color and size make a huge difference. I also like the rectangular and more traditional square floor tiles, but worry they would make the space feel too cold, and that the rectangular tile would be too trendy.

Our home will be transitional and located in a high end neighborhood. Any other input on wood look tile, rectangular tile, and square tile, material, or other such suggestions welcome! Thank you again for your help!

A good porcelain faux slate or travertine would be far more timeless. But it will all date in the end.

I love it! It is timeless. Casinos in Vegas have been using it 10 plus years... I think buy quality and have thin grout lines.

I would try 12x36 or 12x48

Here's a 5x32 multi-color. Not available in big box stores. Quality matters.
