Pond rocking - help?!!

We have been in the process of building our pond for several months now, it is very large at 25x35 and over 11,000 gallons. There is a gravel/natural bog filter attached and no fish at this point. ( 3-4 ft deep)

my problem is no matter what we seem to have this company do , they keep tearing the pond liner with the rock placement! We have generously already paid for a second liner, we have doubled up top and bottom on under layment......I'm at a loss. We are using river rock , mostly 1-2 man. Are there any pros on here ( or DIY if they have worked with this size pond) that can offer tips? We built ledges , set gently ....I really don't want to stare at liner. I don't even know what my rights here are- they are 2x over on budgeted time because of all of this and we are really in a tough spot. We saved for several years to do this - it was supposed to be my 10 year wedding anniversary gift, but it's becoming a nightmare! I don't want to be a jerk towards them because they seem nice, but........

I believe that we saw one pond pro on here about something once or twice. Unfortunately, this site and much of GardenWeb has lost traffic. I suspect that you should also try (google) another forum with more action. I certainly assume that professionals are supposed to be capable of placing large rocks over protected sections of liner without damage. I also suspect that your only possible hope is legal action and I can imagine poor outcomes. Is this a real company with assets etc?

One possibility: was the pond filled with water before the rocks were placed? If not, there might have been spots where the liner was stretched over a hollow, and the rock put too much stress on it all at once. If the pond were filled first, the water should have stretched the liner into the depressions.

sounds like it's turning into a gift for your 10th anniversary--and 11th, 12th...

Yes- license and bonded. No they didn't fill it first. We are on attempt #4 now , so I will ha e them try that. I seriously think I'm going to not have this done by 11 th! Lol

I really would like to not go the legal route if it can be helped and they are still trying.they are nice people
