Wow, I wasn't expecting to find someone with experience so fast! Good info. We will have solar, so finding an electric one would make sense, thanks for that tip. I'm definitely only thinking of it as an alternative to drying racks. I didn't know if there was anything it does well aside from fast dying. IE, can more things go in a smaller space and dry well so less dedicated drying space is needed.

You can pack them pretty well. The drying time differs on whats in it as with tumble dryers.

A full cabinet with mixes stuff would take 3-4 h, but thinner stuff faster.

Now it is a long time since I used one that were new so drying times may have improved.

In my first own home we had a communial laundry room with 2 washer 1 dryer and a drying cabinet but this was three timea the size and bigger rods to hand on, witch meens graiter airflow and with a stronger fan a full load from a 10 pound washer took under an hour.

Can the most delicate things go in them (like drippy nice sweaters)? Or, is it still heat and better to air dry those items? It seems like a nice way to contain the puddles I collect under my current drying racks

You can dry anything in them. Set a lower temp and you can dry anything. They are used alot for drying wet outdoor clothes in daycare for children.

As the garments dont tumble there are no mecanical action so they wont shrink.

I have an asko drying cabinet that my husband bought me because he hated seeing my wooden drying racks. I used it for a few months but honestly prefer my wooden drying racks. The drying cabinet still takes hours to dry full loads and does require more thought to load. It is great for wet boots and coats during the winter.
