"I was just told today there's NO OUTLET FOR MY DRYER..."

Well, there is probably SOME electrical outlet for the dryer. Did you by any chance buy an electric dryer while the laundry room is configured for a gas dryer? A gas dryer requires a gas pipe and a 120-volt electrical outlet. An electric dryer requires a 240-volt electrical outlet. Perhaps the installer meant that the laundry room has the wrong type of electrical outlet for the dryer rather than none at all.

Was your old dryer electric or gas? If electric, was it hardwired?

I had a similar unwelcome surprise when I replaced the electric dryer that came with the house. I found out it was hard wired when the new dryer was delivered. I had to call an electrician to install a 240v outlet as hardwiring a new dryer is not electrical code compliant.

Every state has enacted some form of the Uniform Residential Landlord and Tenant Act - unfortunately, washers, dryers, and their corresponding connections are considered non-essential amenities rather than basic legal requirements for habitability (e.g., water/electricity/heat).

Does your lease have any provisions re: available utilities/appliances/services/etc.?
