First purchase made! A milestone...

No one else but you guys would appreciate how momentous this is...

After dithering around for months about whether we are actually going to do this giant, ridiculously expensive remodel on our house, it looks like we're going ahead. SO I made our first official remodel purchase yesterday: A Sharp microwave drawer that I found on clearance for $500 off the regular price.

Let the games begin!

Where did you find it on sale for $500? Wow that's a huge bargain as it normally goes for double.

cpartist - I paid just under $700 for it, but it usually sells for $1,199. So I saved $500.

I got it at our local big appliance store in their clearance section. It was a floor model, although no scratches or dents, and still under warranty.

I feel you. We are similarly about the step off the ridiculously expensive remodel cliff. I want to shop for appliances but the contractors here are so busy we may still not break ground for 6 months! How long are you storing your appliances?

Hmmm, I haven't really considered the storage issue; I was just too excited about saving the $500 ;-) I guess I'd better make a plan before the thing gets ruined.

Our contractor told of folks who stored their high end fridge and stove in the garage , , , where they were hit by the car. The fact that we don't have a garage saved us from that fate, but it also meant that we couldn't buy the big stuff on sale and store it.

Congratulations of your first of many expenditures!

Yes, we DO understand! I'm not getting new appliances, but I've been giving myself a "kitchen shower" and buying new bamboo lazy susans for condiments in the cabinets, new canisters, 2 new pans, new toaster oven (Breville Mini that my children gave me for Mothers Day", and even a new mat to put under the dog's water dish! Makes the waiting easier. The stainless drawer liner to hold dog kibble, has been sitting just inside my living room in front of the Grandfather clock for a month, and the Rev-a-Shelf utinsel pull- out that's been in the garage since late Mar when I got a great deal for it in eBay. Yes, we understand! Congratulations on a great find!
