It's not stained, it's just a wet rock. Probably not enough sealer was used, though when I seal my similarly-colored granite on my vanity, it doesn't really prevent the wet mark from the bathroom cup. I may not be using enough sealer, but it dries out so it doesn't bother me.

It should dry out if you move the dish. You can ask them to seal it again, or, ask them the name of the sealer they used, buy some, and seal it yourself.

But it may always do this, just a very porous stone.

You cannot leave soap bottles on stone; it can destroy them. Rinse this well, let it dry for a few days, hope for the best, and knock it off please.

I have a hand soap dispenser for years and I don't have an issue. Joseph, are you saying it's the soap that drips onto the granite and then damages it?

I've got granite that I've never sealed in 5 years. It's been impervious to oil, red wine, citrus, balsamic vinegar, and everything else I've thrown at it. Often, these spills sit on my counters overnight, and still wipe right off the next day. The only thing it needs is an occasional razor scraping of hard water deposits around the sink. My marble bathroom is a whole 'nother matter...it is far more delicate. It really just depends on the stone's porosity.
