What is the gray thing in your 3rd picture with the holes? Is this the jig? I see this: on Amazon?

Yes Lisa that is the one in my photo. Most often it is used with Blum hinges that use screws for mounting so they are not in the correct location for the Ikea-style hinges.

Thanks. So how did you mark the smaller holes if they are not in the right spot with the jig?

We are trying to figure this out because we will need to do this a few times in our kitchen with a cover panel and a custom 27" door.

I found this template at Home Depot. It seems like those holes line up better than the jig with the hinges.

I drilled the large hole first. Once I could place the hinge deeply into the hole I could use the hinge as a template. I just made sure it was even with the door edge by using a carpenter's square along the back edge of the hinge.

You are great. I wonder if you could help me with advice? I also have the Bodbyn set. I wanted to hack a door front to be able to install a glass panel. They don’t sell with glass a door 12wx30h.

I don’t mind to have the glass door without the grill. Should I cut out a solid bodbyn door? Or one with glass?(I’m affraid the trim is glued to the glass. If I use a solid door, in which place should I make the cut? Same as how they sell the glass ones?

Where to cut to insert the glass?

I’m thinking about getting it custom made. But where exactly should the opening be for glass?
