Eeeek!!! Can't wait to see the reveal!

How exciting! Takes lots of pics -- they make for special memories. :)

congrats! Looking forward to the reveal.

Wow! Nice temp set up. I have no idea what I'll be doing. I have 3 and 5 yr old boys.

Exciting!

My boys are almost 7 and 10, so it's easier to be displaced! I also have two cats, and decided to just keep them in the basement when the workers are here. They're very happy up on the top shelf by the window! You can see one of them in the pic above.

I posted this in my bathroom thread, too: now that the kitchen ceiling is down, I discovered that there is no floor beneath my master bathroom vanity! And, there is a large hole in the bottom of the vanity where the pipes go up, and you can see the toilet paper stash that I store in there! From the vanity side, I can look down and see out the back porch.

I guess THIS is what people mean by surprises that come up? I figured we'd be covered because we were gutting the kitchen and redoing the electrical and walls...I forgot that we might see problems upstairs! Now we're thinking of replacing the copper pipe with PEX. There is evidence of leaks and fixes all over (like the missing floor that was cut out at some point).

Better make sure it's not just the floor and that structurally nothing was done by the previous owners that would make the house unsound.

We had a similar problem during our gut but it was a downstairs bathroom with pipes behind where the new cabinets we're going. It was an added expense to fix that bathroom's plumbing but certainly better than a surprise in a few years... Good luck - it is worth it!

OK, we're having all visible copper pipes replaced. I'll ask about whether the plywood needs to be closed up now, or if it can wait until we remodel the bathroom.
