Den. Aggregatum Holes/Black Spots Leaves

last modified: 10 years ago

Afternoon,

I purchased
this Den. Aggregatum on a whim for cheap.
At the time I did notice the holes in the leaves, however it was an
attractive plant, basically free and I figured what the heck, it’s a learning
opportunity. I currently have it quarantined
far from my collection. From what I’ve
observed about ¼ of the mature leaves have several, small holes that go
straight through. I initially thought
that a pest may be to blame; however I’ve noticed that new small black spots
have cropped up on the affected leaves. They appear to be soft and have not
spread. My suspicion is that these spots
eventually give way and create the hole.
I haven’t gotten a look at the roots, but it has sent out three new
growths in my short time of owning it. I water it twice a week.

I haven’t
had much experience with rot and fungus in orchids. Any suggestions re: this mystery &
treatments would be greatly appreciated. I’d love to bring this poor thing back
into its splendor!
