Tear out old...laying new floors over old floors creates new problems.

Oh is shame if old floors can't be refinished. I don't know the age of your home or why they would be unable to refinish them- really deep stains? You could refinish them darker. If terribly warped from extensive water damage or something you would probably have to replace, and if you do I agree you need to remove the existing floor, and possibly sub floor first. I might suggest second opinion on their need for total replacement as it is more costly and a waste if not actually necessary, plus many older wood floors are of great quality wood.

few contractors in this area for this type work. still trying to find one who will replace bad boards or refinish whole area. THANK YOU for the advice I have gotten from this site!! I know NOT to float Laminate now. Good save!
