Do they have an habanero type flavor?
I once purchased a plant, glancing briefly at it's tag, which read "habanero." When it produced fruit I tried one and about got blown away. Technically it was an habanero. But it was a Scorpion habanero, which is much hotter!

yes Dawn, It packs a lot of heat but different than a habanero. Don't know how to explain it but it does. The walls are thick like a bell pepper. I guess I would describe it as a slow burner and it doesn't last long and macmex, you are so lucky to get a scorpion!!

I just picked two more but they had already set on in the nursery. If I look up Santa Fe peppers you think I'll find it? Ok, I just googled Santa Fe Grande and it looks just like them but they go from green to red, no yellow what so ever. It looks like the Havasu has the yellow stage also. But if I were to look at it, I would say that is it.

Santa Fe is a type and, while most of them go through a yellow stage, I'm not sure that all of them do. Santa Fe Grande and Havesu are just the latest variations of Santa Fe types, and there are many others.

If your fruit were hanging downward in the photo, I'd think that maybe the variety you have is a variety of red habanero (though not Caribbean Red) called Hot Paper Lantern. Oh, and from your description of the heat, it is unlikely to be Hot Paper Lantern because it would be more of a fast burn from the moment your tongue touched the first bit of pepper. Still, the shape of your fruit is more like Hot Paper Lantern than Caribbean Red.

I've grown santa fe grande, they start out yellow and look more like a yellow jalapeno. Or at least the seeds I got did. The leaves in the first picture looks like they have herbicide damage.
