I'm in west NM just off rte 40. We have only 1 or 2 hummers, we usually

have a dozen or so at this time of year.

We've had our usual number here, I think, fighting over the Salvias. I think populations west of the Rockies and then west of the cascades a probably distinct from whatever is affecting your populations though.

My population is way down this year as well. And the ones I've seen don't look like my usual gang. I keep cleaning and filling feeders in hope of seeing more.

We had a lot early on, then the Japanese Honeysuckle in the area bloomed, and we had only a few. Honeysuckle has ceased blooming, and they are back. I've never seen so many! We have six feeders up. In KY.

Live in central Texas and my hummers are gone. My usual crew came back but seem to just fall off. Noticed my neighbor's feeders are devoid of hummers as well. Miss my little guys "(

I saw one, early in the season and that has been it. Usually they are fighting for my salvias and coralbells. I am worried. (Cincinnati Ohio)

Two weeks later after my original post at the top of this thread, i have only seen a couple of males and maybe one female. Only have seen two at a time, max. So strange. One male seems to be hanging around claiming his territory, but I can tell it's not my usual crew. They seem to be very young males. I will keep posting updates.

So this morning I saw 2 hummers working my bed of salvia and bee balm. Still not anywhere my numbers of previous years but at least I saw 2 at once.

Lots of people in southwest Missouri are reporting low numbers.

I live in East Central Illinois. I have just in the past week seen a regular visitor to my feeders. My feeders went up the first full week of April. It was June 1st before I saw my first hummingbird and it was a male that I saw maybe once a week. Just this past week we started to see a female who is around 5-6 times an hour. normally by this time we have 4 or 5 around fighting over the feeders.

We have dozens. In Greenup, Ky. Have six feeders up, 16 oz each. Cleaned and refilled every 4th day. Usually, 4 are empty or near empty. We've never seen so many. And the garden is buzzing!

Tina, you are so lucky! I am seeing them daily, but one at a time only. I'm curious, are you near a creek or river?

Yes! Woods to the back of the house and creek to the front. Honeysuckle on the fences. We are lucky. Pretty perfect Hummer habitat.

I am in North Central Missouri. I have been feeding the Hummers since 1977. I keep 22 feeders going. This year the population is down about 65 %. I have NEVER experienced a down year like this year. I have no explanation , except maybe the early spring weather. Very, very few males claiming the feeders.
