Not without planning from the beginning as GN said that will barely support itself with nothing (people or other) on it. What did the building inspector say of the plans you submitted for the permit?

FYI in many places no permit is required for a deck less than 2’ high so my guess no permit but I do agree there should be more support As for hand rail all the old not modern stuff should be removed and replaced with the same as for the deck which I would do in steel and glass once the support is done properly. On a one acre lot I dont really see much need for privacy

Renee, the footing might of passed inspection, but your span does not meet the code and I doubt that will pass. Also I would check the first post in the last picture, it doesn't seems to be level and leaning forward, that should be fixed to prevent deck collapse (to many of them lately due to faulty construction) .

In addition looking at the girder (beam which is supporting deck joists) the far end of it in the last picture... it looks like there is a splice and a piece of wood was added to make up the span without additional support under it, that is a big NO.

With that said, I don't know who built your deck, but I would have a professional contractor to check your deck out, because last thing you want is your deck to collapse when it's loaded with people, deck furniture, swings, etc .
