?does this really work ....

I planted some squash in holes I made in big squares of red plastic hoping to deter squash bugs.... but I find the plants are growing so fast & so much bigger this year than usual! Does the red plastic really promote growth as one neighbor suggested?

It has been tested and proven to work on some plants.

Oh, thank you so much for the article! Very interesting & now may (?) explain my zucchini plants 'super growth' this year when I planted them surrounded by the red plastic! I really have no explanation for it as the only changes I made planting this year was the red plastic. I may experiment/try this now with some of the other garden plants that are still young yet: one plant 'with' & another of the same kind of plant 'without'!

Now.... I am wondering what the squash bugs will 'think' of it?! :)
