what's on the other wall? the one on the right?

The book shelf is not a bad idea...

I have some pieces that might interested you and goes with the color and decor you have.

These are wall acrobats cast in bronze; they represent a family so you have grand mothers, mothers, father, teens, etc.... I think it would be a small touch to decor the walls but also nothing to big that would be distracted by the armoire.

This is an example of them. You can adjust their height as you need to... They are under my collection of Gerardo Fernandez.

Bookcases are just going to close in that wall and require lots of stuff to fill them. They are going to "weight" that side of the room even more heavily. And they're going to create another Design Dilemma.

What is on the wall facing the armoire? Can you show pictures?

What about the wall with the red Chinese chest?

I'm thinking you already have too much furniture. Lots of things like benches or ottomans, too much layering of rugs. Just too many things. So please don't add shelves.

Try to look at your room and think what could be removed....the black bench under the window? The black ottoman in the middle of the floor that is serving no purpose because it's too far from any chair or sofa to be within reach.
