One of those cat days....

What a day! Little cat is in season so singing loud and long. ( Yes she will be sorted but i wanted her more settled and she is never ever allowed out.)

Jacob, my flying cat, has taken to getting onto the high mantelshelf then leaping down heavily on me..

And Boycat! I realised yesterday he had been treating the house like a hotel, coming home to eat and sleep.. A very different cat these days..

.I was making jam in the kitchen so he thinks he will do his old trick of lurking by the door.. Usually a silent miau cat, he started crying loud and long...The house is open plan so he lurked on the stairs, then tried the back door.. I had to go outside briefly and he lay in wait and made a dive for the great outdoors as soon as the door opened. Nicely fielded! Heart stopping time though..He almost made it....But i felt dreadful as if I was being cruel,

Then only had to remember the 8 day wait for him to come home...... So when I had finished my kitchen work, I came back upstairs bearing cheese, one of his favourite foods,,, He needed to use the tray twice so I am hoping that that was the urgency f his seeking out. All is quiet again... Nearly feeding time so perhaps they will quieten down.. Is it just me who has mad cats?

My boy, Rocket, has never shown any interest in going outside. I can stand at the door with it open and he will come and sniff the air, then turn around and come back in.

I used to have an outside cat (inherited from neighbors) and she would come to the open door and stand there, no interest in coming in and Rocket would come and they would be nose to nose, but neither wanted to trade places!! But as for yowling and flying, thankfully I have none of that going on unless it's meal time and then a few polite meows let's me know it's time. :)

Oh murraysmom that is lovely! That is what Jacob and Sum Sum do.... or did until I had to create prison terms... Jacob is a most unusual cat. I gather he was allowed to do whatever he wanted before he came here and he is a counter surfer and loves high places. He is clumsy and noisy with it all.. Would not last a minute out there!

Love your posts Marigold. My big guy Bailey never wanted to go out when we lived on the farm. Now that we've moved to a suburban house, he came out the door onto the patio as I was holding it open for the dogs. I was shocked! Quickly put him back in the house! Now he lurks around the door when the dogs are out.

I was thinking of getting him a halter and letting him out on a leash, see what he thinks. Maybe he just wants to be with the dogs?

It can be torture trying to keep an outdoor cat in. They are relentless, have nothing better to do than try to get out. It's not fun, is it Marigold?

socks.no not fun as you say.I have lived in many places in Ireland and until last year never a problem with my cats being literally kidnapped. . The issue with Boycat seems to be largely that he is used to bathroom outside. He has to get used to the tray and is slowly adapting. Same noisy while earlier then he used the tray and quietened ...I have had to keep doors closed anyways as the outdoor cat wants in and if he succeeds he sprays everywhere. So he sits on the window outside peering in... lol! And I always thought cats were such peaceful creatures! All quiet now.... food is a great comforter... Oh and I have a annexe here so I can get in and out without danger!
