By the way, the wrought iron on the front porch is being replaced with pillars and railing. In addition, there will also be a banister over the porch, where the door comes out of the bedroom on 2nd floor. The windows are also being replaced with double hung windows (wood), on the front of the house (sunrooms) on 1st and 2nd floor!

Look at Benjamin Moore historical collection . A darker green would be nice

Beautiful house by the way. I think a grey colr with white trim and black doors would look nice and the long pillars on the sides of the windows in white also. Bring in some fresh colors on the porch by painting wicker a brighter yellow color with splashes of apple green and black on cushions. Would look fresh and contemporary. Good luck with you project.

Before you replace those lovely 9 over 9 windows, please read up on historical windows and their repair. They can often be restored and made energy-efficient at no more cost than new windows. Sometimes less. Better yet, you would get to keep these beautiful windows that are so important to the look of this house.

Here's some options for you.

A warm grey is a good colour but a soft Yellow Ochre would be good too + white woodwork.

The only windows that are being changed are the windows on the right side, front, sunroom windows. The original windows were already replaced with cheap six panel (fake) before we bought it. We are trying to put back some windows that will look somewhat original!

PPG has a historic collection and there's two colors dark sage and light sage go figure that would look really nice on the house.

Sage green for the clapboards, bright crisp white for the trim moulding and on the windows - the door would be a dark green accent color. Are you going to add any shutters? I'd do them in dark green too.
Since you only have the one picture here - it's hard to tell about the house, but it looks like an American Foursquare style. If it is Foursquare, to be historically accurate, the windows were never white. They were painted green, or tan, or burgundy or black.
There is a guy, Robert Schweitzer, who teaches at Ann Arbor, he's a specialists on color and homes. If you send him photos of the house, he will give you several Sherwin Williams colors to try. You have to get 4X4 sheets of plywood and try the sample colors. He has you put the painted plywood next to the house and observe it in the morning, noon, late in the day and see how you like the color throughout the day. What might look good on a tiny 3" sample from the paint store will look different when a two-story house is painted in it!
Once you pick the main color for the body of the house, Rob give you several colors for trim, accent, foundation, etc. colors. I used him a few years ago on a house that we flipped and it was a show stopped. People would drive by to see it!

You have time to do this sampling exercise and get it right before the painters show up in two weeks!

From the pictures posted from Dar Eckert you see that the right combination of three colors is what works on a house with your character, but do consider the color of the roof whether is it staying or being replaced as being one of those colors in the three.

The roof will be replaced next year. We are replacing the cheap replacement windows on the front of the house with nice double hung windows and having the house professionally painted. We will have to wait on the roof until next year,,,,$$$!

I love the idea of the grey with white trims and the yellow accent colours. Would look amazing, traditional with some colour to modernise it.
