Help I need advice!

I ordered my cabinets from cabinets.com and after they finally arrived we realized that the designer made a mistake and now I am 10 inches short on cabinets. They do not make any 10 inch cabinets and my only choice if I don't want to waste 20 inches of space (10 inches on top and 10 on the bottom) are filler cabinets with Rev a Shelf inserts. That would be perfect however they do not make them with decorative fronts. My whole kitchen is on hold because of this. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Can you get custom door for as a front for the insert?

I thought of that but I am not sure if it could be easily matched. Cabinets.com is very limited in their choices and quite honestly they are not offering any options other than the two I mentioned...lose the 20 inches and fill with several fillers or put two 6 inch fillers on either side with Rev a Shelf inserts but the fronts are plain. She sent me a rendition and I don't think it looks right. In that case I would only be losing 8 inches. Do you think a custom cabinet company could match exactly?

I would definitely check with a local cabinet shop! Maybe get a 10" bottom cabinet for baking sheets/cutting boards and a slide out top cabinet something like this. Link

Thank you! I guess that's the only thing I can do. I was just worried that it would not match exactly. My thought was to do the 10 inch plain fillers with the Rev a Shelf on the inside and search for some type of decorative front panel that would not look out of place. I'm disappointed that Cabinets.com is not offering any real solutions. I understand I should have checked the dimensions when she sent the final plans but there were many cabinets and unfortunately I just checked each piece on the invoice assuming she was using the dimensions on sent her. I really would like them to exchange the smaller cabinet for a larger on....but they do not do exchanges...no matter what. :(

Why don't you just order the larger cabinet and eat the cost of the one that doesn't fit?

I've considered that as well. I have been without a kitchen since March 27th, if I order new cabinets it will take another 8 weeks so I was exploring all other options as the fillers would only take 10-12 days. In addition the upper is an easy fix with a new cabinet the lower is a bit more complicated.

I can understand the frustration, we had a few issues that caused delays too. What really made a difference for us was buying cheap temporary counters from Ikea that allowed us to install our sink and get our kitchen fully functional again.

Thanks for understanding, it helps. It's really the sink that is the major issue and it is my understanding that we can't install the sink until we know the cabinet situation. As it is now my boyfriend redid the plumbing and a beautiful job before we knew about the cabinet error and it looks like that will have to be moved because it's close to the edge of the sink cabinet. Redoing the powder room as well and don't even have a sink or toilet in there as yet. I purchased everything including a chandelier but there is a problem with the plumbing and vanity in there as well. This is a condo so all my stuff from the first floor is on the second floor. I feel like a hoarder! Gaining weight because I'm eating out and stressed all the time. Sorry I am really a very positive, grateful person but I am very frustrated!

Kitchen remodels can be SO frustrating! And a powder room too? No wonder you're not feeling like your positive self. :) Hang in there, this will all be a distant memory soon. :)

Thank you for the support, actually it's the entire first floor of the condo...knocked down walls so it's an open concept did the wood look porcelain tiles and painted. So far I love everything but as I said I feel I am at a stand still. I think I am going to go with the 6 inch plain filler both bottom and top with the Rev a Shelf and then hopefully down the line see if there is something out there that I can add. Not ideal but I think I need to move forward.

I was thinking some open shelves too. Wine rack maybe?

The "plain" doors may look fine. Okie KD also messed up with measuring and we ended up with two 6" filler pullouts with "plain" fronts. I was skeptical, but they look fine.

Thank you for all the suggestions. I'm sure no one would notice the plain doors except me, however with the money I am spending on this reno I think it would always bother me.

Thanks for all the support and suggestions. I think I will go with the open shelves. The baskets will keep the counters looking neat and uncluttered. Cabinets.com does not carry a 10 inch cabinet but I think I can check a big box store or a custom cabinet designer. My fabricator said he cannot measure until all the lower cabinets are installed and secure. Do you think I can wait for the open shelving until after he measures or will that throw things off. I'm trying to move things along but I don't want to screw anything up.

I'm not sure what kabinets you have, but you could consider open shelves, as suggested, in a color that would contrast your setup - see here for instance (the green color around could be carried to the shelves for example).

Contrast may work better than trying to match it and being one shade off. Wine racks - maybe metal - could also work.
