Best time to harvest mason bee cocoons?

Just wondering as to the best time of year to harvest my mason bee cocoons here in the PNW? Also, what is the best treatment and/or storage of those cocoons until next spring. I didn't have many hatch from last season, so I thought I'd put it out there for those of you who likely have much more experience than I do. Thanks,
