We had some dead space under our staircase that we could use for broom/mop storage, so my husband cut out an opening (approx 12" wide) in our laundry room (see photo). Now we need to figure out what type of door to use. A framed door will make the opening even narrower, so that's out. I like the idea of a sliding barn door, but this will only work if it slides to the left because there will be a refrigerator to the right. Or should we try to find a pantry size cabinet door with hinges? Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!
