Maxibels?

I have 3 minibels right now that have grown to over 3' tall, and I'm sure that I labeled correctly. The tomatoes are mini but the plant is not!

Mine actually look a lot like yours. I'm following to see if anyone else has any thoughts. I haven't potted up (mine are all in 1 gal containers), but so far they are doing well and putting on lots of blooms.

Lol...The description that came with mine reads: Early, very compacy det. Plant, 6-12" tall, regular rugrose leaves, small bright red cherries with very good sweet flavor, grows well in small 3" pots and suitable for growing under lights indoors.

Other than the one plant mine have definitely surpassed a foot, and do not have noticeably rugrose leaves. Only time will tell I suppose :)

Mine too, ha! Did you buy from Baker Creek? Maybe there's something up with this year's seeds.

The reviews on Baker Creek's site are interesting. The first thing that I noticed is the reviews for taste aren't all that good. The second is that there are a few reviews which mention the growth habit being different than what BC gives in the description. Makes me wonder how pure the seeds are or if the variety is stable.

Haha, Barry. Nope, never ordered from them and haven't grown this tomato. Never even heard of it before. Just commented on the reviews I read on the Minibel tomato.

My Minibels were actually from Tatiana's Tomato Base. I do have other seeds from BC that are doing just fine: Principe Borghese and Japanese Black Trifele...those two varieties look like I would expect them to so far.

My only aberration (so far anyway) is my poor not so little now mystery tomato.

I've never gotten seeds from Baker Creek that didn't germinate at a very high rate. They usually put way more seed in there than promised, and shipping is reasonable, quick, and trackable. I hate to sound like an ad, but I've ordered from them many times, and I've always had a good experience. My only "unsatisfactory" experience is that their Sungold II Select isn't stable; the ones that look true to type only tasted so-so, while half my plants put out red-orange fruits which were actually much tastier than the yellow-orange ones but not the Sungold taste I was going for. However, they do clearly state on their website that the seed still produces off-type plants, so I wasn't surprised by this. I was honestly more disappointed that the orange-gold ones didn't taste all that great compared to the F1.

Finally putting out flowers and "seems" to have stopped growing...my hand is at the top of the plant since the vines make it hard to see

Not a "mini" by any definition. Is it a hybrid ?

Maybe you've got cross seeds.

But what really matters is to get some tasty tomatoes.

I don't believe Minibel is supposed to be a hybrid...but I could be totally wrong. We shall see once these start to set fruit. :)

My minis have fruit on the now... Even the fruits are not as mini as I expected. Almost like a small Roma. I'll post pics later.
