Giant top hat Gable diarrhea syndrome. And old man pants under the armpits as well. Don't compound that with a totally unsuitable window to boot. Simplify. Get rid of some of the front facing gables. Use stone or brick cladding as though it were truly structural. Clad an entire section in it, leaving other sections to be the siding entirely. And no arched windows.

It's important to post the floor plan too. We need the plan to understand how the elevation and rooms within relate.

Thanks for the input! I wish I could post the floor plan but haven't chosen builder yet. I was having concerns about stone placement...I will keep your ideas in mind. And will see about simplifying the gables....I like the idea of the dormer window as it brings in light. But wrong shape/style perhaps?......

Don't understand how posting the plan relates to choosing a builder, but consider that it's better to have things reviewed now, rather than when the house is under construction and it's too late.

Keep the transom above the front door a matching width rectangular. All others look fine to me.

All ideas are appreciated! Even Sophie! Except my husband takes offense to the "Old Man" comments! The thinking on the rounded transom was the rounded barrel vault ceiling over entry. I do understand the point though, that there are not round details elsewhere. Here is the floor plan that I had not included.....

Hire an architect. You need completed design plans and full specifications before moving forward. You don't get that off of the internet. You get that from a paid professional.

You have a good start, and a good Architect or designer will help to refine your ideas.

I dropped the porch and room to the right down to a 9' ceiling, and matched the garage fascia height. Added the full width dormer.

Also moved the entire center slice -- dining room to the back wall forward so the dining room front wall is aligned with the front door wall.

Your drawing seems a bit compressed, as if it has been pushed in from both sides, and my changes are intended to counteract this.

I think a lower pitch roof might also work.

I completely understand high windows needed in the laundry, could have a high window in the shower on the right elevation of the house instead of the front elevation. Good luck with the new house design.
