Of those 4, I think the 3rd one is best because it's round (no sharp corners) and more open/lighter looking given the legs.

I would love to see some additional pics. From these I would go with 2 or 4 without any other info. You might also consider a tufted ottoman in a dark color that would be soft for little ones.

having had a toddler that smashed his forehead on a coffee table, having to do it all over again, I would select a leather rectangle soft ottoman until they were past that stage!!!

I don't want any trips to the ER. I'll definitely be on the lookout for a sturdy leather ottoman. Thanks for the good advice.

Get something big enough to so you have access to placing down something no matter where you are seated on the couch - that's what a coffee table is for, access full length. You could always do 2 square ottomans if can be nice and less expensive if want to go soft route. Kids are playing on top of them and placing there sippy cups etc, so can also look at rounded edge rectangle or oval harder surface sturdy surfaces - bumps, and no cuts/damage. baby to toddlers I am around have survived the head bangs without ER trips

I agree with the ottoman solution. One nephew knocked out his teeth on the edge of a coffee table. Sharp edges are just not child friendly. The metal cocktail table can dent with a few bangs from wood blocks,
