Looks like a Grammatophyllum type orchid. Not sure of type. Google Grammatophyllum and look at the images for identity.

Here is one I grow. Very large, spike is over 3 feet. The plant is covered with ferns which I ignore until they grow too big.

You need a good photo of the blooms to have a chance at the genera id. So, google Grammatophyllum or Oncidums or Oncidium intergenerics and have look at images, maybe you will find some blooms that looked similar to those on your plant before the blooms faded.

As for the seeds, in nature the seeds need to find a suitable host fungus. That is why there are so many seeds and perhaps you have more chance of getting a baby plant in the tropics.

Th old time growers scattered seed around their orchids and sometimes a few germinated, but the process is slow and unreliable.

If you go down the agar, sterile route you need to know the optimum time to harvest the pod and it follows that you need at least the genera id. Go to the University of google for more details.
