Quick help needed: new kitchen faucet. Get brass??

Hi all,

So, our kitchen faucet hose (pull out faucet head) has broken and while we can replace the hose (special order, unfortunately), we are also going to look into replacing the faucet. Our kitchen is French Provincial in style, done by previous owner. I think they may have replaced the faucet since redoing the kitchen in 2000, as the drain ring and garbage disposal ring are brass but the faucet is chrome. I am thinking of going with brass, but have a budget of less than $500 (so most fab brass fixtures are out). Thoughts? I did some research and know that mixing metals is fine and I can go with chrome again, or another finish. It would probably be polished brass, since most manufacturers offer that, although I would really like unlacquered brass.

Thoughts?

Thank you!

Thanks, pal! Yes, I know about unlacquered brass and know it is high maintenance. Just seems so very! But prob unrealistic. Kohler Fairfax is what I have first on my list! My plumber also recommended Kohler. Appreciate your input!

I think burnished brass would look great.

@mimi, I agree but hard to find nice ones in my budget!

Take a look at the Delta Cassidy pull down faucet in Champagne Brass. It's $382 on Build.com (look online for coupon codes). I have the chrome wide set in my bathroom and really like it. Delta stands behind their faucets and plumbers like them too.

Thanks, may! I did look at that b/c the champagne was recommended on another thread. I do like it, although my plumber feels that Delta isn't what it once was (he has Delta in his kitchen but older). But I do like their warranty. I am going to go to the plumbing supply and see what is on offer.

Just to update, I went to our plumbing supply. No shocker that they don't carry anything in polished brass - not popular enough (I can't tell you how many times this happens to me!!!). I contemplated going with brushed nickel, just to take it home, but DH said, and he is right, that I won't be happy with it. I really liked the Delta champagne bronze color, but in the end I went with what Pal linked, the Kohler Fairfax in polished brass. I think it will look great and if not, oh well! One day, when we redo the kitchen, I can get my unlacquered brass.

We went with a "living finish" in bronze in our kitchen and really like it...it shows wear where we use it and some parts are shiny while others are dark and dull. It looks very antique and has worked well for us.

Annie, can you link to yours?

Sorry, I don't even remember the brand any more. Probably Rohl or Moen. It was a bronze finish of some sort. You can see the handle is lighter and more worn than the rest.

update: faucet came in, installing was a bear for the plumber as the washer was too wide for the clearance between sink and wall. He had to retrofit but it's now done. Works well with my kitchen so I am happy. I forgot to order a brass cover for the hole and it's on back order for a month. I ordered a new basket strainer as well. Might as well go all the way!
