Help with granite stain!

Last week I discovered a liquid soap stain on my bathroom granite. We don't really use that bathroom so I am not sure how long the soap had been there. I wiped it and let it dry for a day. There was no difference. So I googled it and made a poultice with baking soda and water. I let it sit for 24 hrs and removed the poultice. Now I have a bigger water stain from the poultice. This is the third day and I don't see it going way. The stain seems to be gone but the area where I applied the poultice is still darker. I just tried to dry it a bit with the hair dryer. Don't know if I am helping it or not. Advice or opinions??

Give it more time to dry. Some granites can really suck in the liquid.

Thanks so much---I'm hoping it just goes away, but seems to be taking a long time for me! Do you have a recommendation on a sealer?

I use Tenax Proseal. Try DeFusco Industrial Supply.

It can take a long time. Don't let anyone use that sink until the water is gone from the stone and you've put a sealer on it!

Light color granite "stain" with water. It's not a real stain, it's just darker because is wet. It will go away but could take days or weeks.

I always hire a good voodoo doctor. They curse the area around it to make it ALL dark.. then.. no problem!

Update on stain status-- I THINK the stain is getting lighter. It is hard to tell. Never thought it would take several days to dry. I believe it was sealed, but will redo it with Joe's recommendation of Tenax Proseal. Just wish it would hurry up and go away. At least, from the pros here-- it sounds like it's hopeful.

The granite is still darker in the area where I used the poultice. It has been 10 days since I removed it. Do you think it still needs more time to dry?

I have an idea, but please let Joe weigh in: if you're sure your tops are already sealed, perhaps the sealer is just enough to inhibit quicker evaporation. If you definitely plan on re-sealing with Proseal, you'll need for first strip off the original sealer with acetone anyway (Joe will caution to be very careful with acetone as it's highly flammable). Why not go ahead and strip off the sealer now, in case it may allow the water to evaporate more quickly? Please read all instructions and warnings very carefully when working with these chemicals, if DIYing.

Just want to say that my stain is totally gone! I want to thank the pros that weighed in and for their knowledge to be patient and wait for it to dry. It did take several weeks. No one has used that sink and I have not resealed it yet. It was supposedly pre-sealed. The granite is brazillian giallo veneziano. I thank you again!
