It is a cement-based mix applied to the concrete slab by an artisan. You can create custom color and texture.

While I understand from your project description that this level may not get as much traffic, I'm curious to know how the kids do with this textured concrete flooring (specially if they fall!)? Two additional questions: a) what's the ceiling height and how much excavation did it require? b) what radiant flooring set up was specified: standard pex in concrete? Thanks!

This level is being used as a play and family space on a daily basis. Apparently, the kids have no issues with the concrete floor. The ceiling height is 9' and 2-3' excavations were required due to the uneven partially finished existing floor. Standard in-slab hydronic radiant heat was installed to connect to an existing large capacity boiler for an existing radiant heating system on the floor above.
