Built-in buffet next to kitchen

Does anyone have any examples of a built-in buffet in a dining area, directly beside the kitchen? And separated by a wall? Pretty much like the image below... I just want to see some different styles/designs. (The one below is bit more modern than we're going for, and we're not doing two-toned.)

We're renovating our galley kitchen, which includes expanding the opening between the dining room and kitchen, but we might be left with a 16" wall on one side. Here is a quick Paint drawing of what our layout might be like post-renos. The red line is the part of the wall that we might have to leave intact.

Would that look okay?

Alternatively, instead of making it look built-in, we can shorten the buffet so it's maybe about 6-8' long instead, centred along the back dining room wall, OR we can move the buffet to the other side of the dining room (not my favourite option - I feel like it would close in the opening from the hallway into the DR).

Here is a example of Buffet cabinetry adjacent to a contrasting kitchen with island matching the Buffet, separated by a larger wall with serving pass through opening. I hope this help!

Thanks! Love how that buffet looks! That's the design of the buffet that we're going for... It'll just be much more open/adjacent to kitchen.

The wall you're considering is 11' long. That's a lot of buffet. I'd consider a 6' buffet, either built-in or free-standing. Use the space either side to put extra DR table side chairs when not in use or bracket it w/ Kentia palms or other accent pieces.

This would give you storage and display area for some nice serving pieces. Built in sconces not necessarily that style and art.

Bruce - Great ideas! I know 11' seems long, but our house could use more of both storage AND counter space though, so I'd really like the full-length buffet. It will make it more of an eat-in kitchen, and I can serve a lot of food of it when we host at holidays. Also, I'm considering putting pantries on either side, which will help to break up the expanse.

Katherine - YES! The less formal one is EXACTLY what I was hoping to see - the wall divides the kitchen area from the dining room, but it flows and looks like one room. Oh it's perfect. Thank you!

If storage is part of your objective, I like Katherine Sharp's less formal pic. Sides give storage, open center makes it seem less massive & center counter could serve as sideboard.
