Stephen Rulo and Co.

last modified: 10 years ago

New to our garden this year, all planted bare root in Nov '15 ....

Honey Dijon - as the name suggests, an intense mustard when it opens.

fading to a lovely cream as it matures

Koko Loco and Mokarosa are very similar roses. So far the Mokarosa has proven to be more vigorous and taller than Koko Loco.

And to top it all - the king of the show - Stephen Rulo!!! I am totally in love with this rose!

There is so much blooming in the garden at the moment and I have taken so many pictures which I have put into one of my idea books.

    These are beautiful.

One of my favourite colour classes. I love the russet to mauve roses.

Striking pics. Not my favorite types of roses, but very interesting, to say the least.

Thanks all - really appreciate the comments.

April, Café au Lait is getting bigger by the day!

Kate, I am presuming you are referring to the colour. Never use to like the 'odd' colours but tastes change :)

Woooooweeee. Stephen is new to me this year but not loving it as much as I do Koko. I adore the color of Koko and my Stephen is staying light colored not like pics I've seen of Aprils and now yours. Maybe once it goes in the ground. Your roses are beautiful!!

Simply beautiful! Hope I can get some blooms that look half as good as yours and these other master gardeners on this forum. All of you amaze me with your garden designs and the way you are able to group the roses in such a way to bring out their best. I know that comes from experience, but it is also a talent.

Stephen Rulo is unbelievable!!! It has the two colors on at the same time. Exquisite!!!! I love all of your roses here, but Stephen Rulo is in a class by himself!!!! Is there a good fragrance with any of these roses? I don't think there is with Koko Loco.

    Wow!

Beeeyooties!! You know that's my favorite color class... the "oddballs!" STEPHEN RULO is a very gorgeous rose!! I love mine! Your climate seems to give him some more interesting color combos tho.

Carol, I am not the best person to ask about fragrance. Seems my nose is not that sensitive - DH can detect fragrance where I don't! To my nose: SR - yes, HD - yes both not strong but definitely there. KL and Mokarosa - no.

Beth, up until the end of last week we had a lot of rain and if it wasn't raining it was overcast - almost no sun for what seemed like an eternity! I am sure it had an effect on the roses - all more intense! I am curious to see how SR fairs in sunny, dry conditions.

Your delightful Idea-Book photos were a pleasure to peruse! What a pretty setting you have for your gardens - I can almost smell the clean, fresh air. Thank you for sharing!

I love all of the unique roses. You have a fabulous selection on your ideabook pics. I wish I could grow half of those here. I see the beauty in all roses, but after browsing all of these threads I'm definitely liking the bright, flashy, multiple colours & different roses the most.

This forum is a fantastic reference! Your can spend hours here but it is very enabling so be careful;)

The enabling has already begun! It would be worse if for me if my garden centers carried more selections. Impulse buying is curbed when I can only find them online.

Sharlene, I introduced Stephen Rulo in the US. Send me a private e-mail if you can through my site at www.wiroses.com

I don't see Stephen Rulo on your list, Steve...any other info on this rose?
