You are such a wimp, stanofh! My garden is fine! 103 today!

97 at 9am here a couple days ago. Inside late that afternoon, with the AC running, it was right about 100 where we were working upstairs in my office. The coolest spot never got down to 80.

I recall June as a relatively mild weather month. It started that way, but that ended on June 20. Summer is a week old today, and I'm ready for it to be over.

Too hot here in so. CA! Watered last night, but lots of my plants are scorched :-(

Our temps will lurk around 100 degrees, give or take 3 or 4, but cool temps drop to 68-72, so the tomatoes are still producing. With the exception of that big heat wave of 115 a couple weeks ago, this isn't bad. It's going to be steamy this week they say. Humid. The humidity is good for the fires burning around our state and for the plants.

Last Monday it hit 114 at my house according to my uncalibrated weather station, so maybe 110 actually. It did a number on much of my new landscape. I had some new 1gal Tanya sasanqua camellias that I even put under shade cloth, they still burned. My osmanthus fragrans is toasted. My raspberry new growth was incinerated. Even my new toyon Davis Golds that I planted last fall had burned tip growth. My citrus looks fine, although I think I lost some Kishu mandarins that are about the size of small grapes right now.

LOL,Suzi the last time we hit 103f was 1988. Almost 90f today. Although,across the bay they say bring warm clothing to the SF Giants game. It will start in 65f and drop into the high 50's near the end of the game. It even gets me -a lifer bay arean- that less then 20 miles west its cooler then my air-conned home.

Just after 5pm its 101. Both wireless thermometers say was high of 113 today.

Couple weeks ago they both said 119. They both hang loosely under eaves so I think get a bit of roof heat.

Water bill came today and I'm still efficient it says with water restrictions at 2 days a week.

Only plants a bit stunned are young crape myrtles and jasmine new growth.

It's gonna be a long hot summer...

Was busy last Sunday, went to an all day baby shower bbq. Should have watered my patio pots before I went but got lazy. Came home to wilted plants and fried leaves/flowers. Sigh.

Hate to give up my tropicals but I just can't keep them watered with the restrictions. Coming love my succulents more and more.

And yeah, ever since I've been out of school, I hate Summer too!

I know that feeling, BarbJP. :( It is tough to keep up with pots. Even some low water plants I was trying to getting established in the ground this year have dried up. When the established Leonotis stems turn upside down from wilting, I know there are going to be losses. Too hot, too sudden.
