You'll want to keep your view of what looks like a nice little lake, so nothing too thick and tall.

I used a staggered planting scheme fora similar project. I used low clumping bamboos and then a miscanthus that looks very lush and green in the summer and dotted some red leaved shrubs to break up the green

We have a condominium project with rear balconies facing our pool and we planted 10-12 foot European Columnar Hornbeams for privacy. They are disease resistant and have small leaves that don't drop until fall after we have already closed the pool for the season.
