Counters are in! Now what backsplash??

Love the leathered grey goose quartzite that was just installed. Cabinets are White Dove, wood floors dark brown maple, gold faucet and hardware.

I am going for a similar look but using a gray granite. I have the dove white cabinets, similar to yours (the one in the pic is not my cabinet, mine are closer to yours in the pic). I was considering this tile as a backsplash. This is DalTile Mosaics. Only question I have is why would you want to put gold hardware - for a more antique or traditional look? If that is the look you are going for, this tile might be too modern.

Gorgeous countertops! I would go with a simple subway tile in a color that looks great with that beautiful granite. I like the suggestions from clubnev.

Nice! Totally agree with Bev on the simple subway. Don't do something with a lot of pattern since you've got that in the counters. They would compete with each other. I might choose a subway tile in the lightest shade in the counters.

Although the tile is discontinued the picture shows what a light gray subway tile would look like.

Who doesn't love subway? Oh, never mind. Here are a couple of looks that might be an alternative to the basic subway (that"s still going strong) if you want a slightly different look.

Thanks clubnev! Your tile is very nice. Here is a pic of the look I'm going for with the gold hardware.

Your quartzite is really beautiful and is definitely the focus of your kitchen. You can go with subway tile backsplash or you could get some more pattern to your kitchen with mosaics likeGreecian White Splitface or Ocean Crest Brick.

Gold describes the color but not the metal. Great look for your kitchen. Mixing metals in kitchen and bath gives a fresh interesting look.

Great suggestions everyone - thank you! I was afraid of the backsplash being too plain, but I see what you all are saying about not having too many busy patterns. I will look at the white subway tile. Question though - we just put 3x12 glossy white subway tile in the guest bathroom around the corner from the kitchen, is it ok to have the same or very similar tile in the kitchen as well?

I agree with a subway, but I'd choose a gray from your quartzite rather than using white.

A simple plain backsplash because your countertop is the star; two stars in a small space can't compete and often clash!!

white subway tile- beautiful counter top!

I think a simple tile to match the lightest gray in your beautiful counters would be best.

I would definitely go with a white shiny subway tile or marble tile with some gray accents. The latter would match and tie in the two materials beautifully I believe.

Elizabeth P - I ended up going with a shiny white subway with a slight wave to it and I love it. The wall color is Benjamin Moore Grant Beige which is kind of a greige color.

That looks like Elyse Edwards Tongue in Chic ........is it? In "you don't snow me" colorway

I had to go look that up Jan Moyer ! It’s actually Por Villa Artisan in Frost, purchased at Floor & Decor.

Thank you Jules it came out beautiful! I would like to use your kitchen as an inspiration!! Are you still happy with your stone choice? I found this post because I have found so little out there about this quartzite!

Wow. That is one gorgeous kitchen you designed for yourself! Just stunning.

Thanks Elizabeth P ! I do still love the quartzite and wouldn’t change it. But, that being said, the particular stone that I have definitely behaves more like a marble. It doesn’t stain at all, but it will etch if citrus juice gets on it. So I do baby it a little and always use cutting boards. Now, the plus side is that between the matte, leathered finish and the stone pattern, you really can’t see any of the etched places. So probably I am the only one who knows it’s there!

Thank you RedRyder. It was a remodel in an older home. Where the seating end of the island is now, there used to be a wall separating the kitchen from a small den. We took the wall down, put in a beam, gutted and reconfigured the kitchen within the same space and now open to the den. Little bit tricky at times, but we are happy with the end results.

Thanks for the pictures. We are looking at something very similar: artisan frost tile, revere pewter cabinets, some like white dove on the walls, and maybe some kind of whitish counters
