You are off to a great start. I am not an accent wall gal, but I would consider painting the wall navy blue.

I know they're young, but do your boys have any special interests/likes that you could incorporate into the room?

There both into a lot of real boy stuff like the avengers etc I'd live to add more pillows and throw just don't know what colour

I would not recommend table lamps or any lamps within reach of 3 and 5 year-olds.

I think two more shelves on the wall- different sizes maybe. So cuuute! Or hang a peg shelf with a baseball glove. Or maybe a baseball bat? Some pennants from teams. Metal stars. I don't mean all of it just throwing ideas out there.

I would bring in yellow-gold and some pattern. You can find a superhero fabric like the first photo for pillows and curtains. I also like the personalized pillow (what's cuter than your little one after all) Go to etsy.com for great unique personalized/custom items and ikea for less expensive fun items. Also you could consider putting a superhero fathead on the wall. I do not like licensed/character bedding, but my son loves spiderman. We have a spiderman fathead, it looks tasteful and adds instant pizzazz to the room. (My son still loves it 2 years later). They are affordable, safe around young children, and a lot easier than painting. And they can be easily removed if and when your child tires of it without damaging the walls.

Looks great so far. I would add some texture to the wall. You might try a navy blue, you might try picture frames around the boys names to make them pop.

Cute room but the wall definitely needs something. How about painting a band across the wall where the boy's names are. Maybe a 20" horizontal stripe. Even a white stripe would add some dimension to the wall.

I think you need a large framed picture of some type over each bed. There are great colorful posters that range in theme from circus animals, to cars, to boats to maps that would look interesting on the wall. The problem is not with your choice of decoration but the proportion . The linens and furnishings are all very tasteful, but the wall treatments get lost. The shelf with the cars is great but needs to be beefed up by at least 2 more shelves hung below it, each spaced equidistance beneath each other. There are a host of other wall treatments that can be used above the bed like using lacrosse sticks hung in an X above each bed or two boat oars hung accross the wall facing opposite directions. You could Just paint the back wall in navy chalkboard paint and stencil their names on with chalk and let the boys decorate the rest of the wall themselves. Just throwing some ideas out. You are on the right track and the room looks so cute just a little bare.

I would never hang anything hard like a frame over the beds of a 3 or 5 year old. If you want to put up pictures either do so without a frame or in a different location. That's the beauty of paint and decals--safe for little ones.

I was wondering if the boys' had special interests too. Not having that information, I think the colors in this room are begging for a baseball wall. I attached a picture I found on google. I wouldn't just paint a baseball, as you can see they simply painted the red stitches on a white wall giving the impression of a huge baseball. If I had a young boy I'd do it, only at our house it would have to be basketball lines (seams) on an orange wall.

I just noticed a soccer ball rug on the floor. You could do a soccer ball wall, although the nature of a soccer ball pattern is a bit more complicated.

I think visually, the little shelf with cars is just too little for that wall. Either add some more shelves at varying heights, or move that to a smaller wall and do something else there. It is a large wall with an itty bitty shelf in the middle, and that is what looks off right now.

I would duplicate the red stripe on the coverlet, but in navy, just below their names and totally around the room. It might make the room seem a bit wider visually. Consider switching the formal drapery for some cordless roman shades in navy.

I would just build in shelves "around" the headboards and on up to the ceiling. Storing books, incorporating lighting would help decorate the room as well. Create a storage unit wall between the beds to create privacy and each boy has access to his side for books, toys, lighting. Could consider turning the beds along the wall if there's room,and construct a dividing book case/storage shelves. Or Form the beds into an "L" and create a dividing half wall between them for storage and lighting. Good luck

I would ask the children!

Let them have a bit of freedom of their own surroundings. Whether for my own children or those of a clients it is always worth speaking to the parent and child/children for the best to suit all.

I am presently designing some bedside tables and wall cupboards for one of my client's daughters' room. Having put lots of questions about the space and the daughters and parents needs and wishes for the room, they spent a weekend discussing it and then gave a firm brief!

I agree Tim Wood Limited! Children's rooms should always reflect their interests and personalities.

Love the baseball seam idea. Think the ceiling should be painted a royal blue. Agree that while it is a great start, the shelf is too small and high and the names are too high. The wall feels too overwhelmingly bare for these little ones.

Remember that a space is never done, especially a child's room. It will grow and morph and change with them. Enjoy the process!!;)

Maybe you said have the wall painted a different color. Maybe a light blue. Add more character to the room. What do they like? Figure out that and then base the room off of that.

I would hang a simple shelf above each bed (the space between the name and headboard) that can store books or light weight toys. this way each child have express their individual identity.
