I am. And I am so sad this lovely nursery is closing. Thyme2dig intoduced me to it only a few years ago. I don't know what else to say. Blanchettes, seawrights - gone. Mahoneys is the privately owned version of a big box store.

I am interested in visiting. I would need to go in July, though. Marie, like you, I miss Blanchettes and Seawrights. At this point, I drive to Russells for just about everything. I'm determined to keep them in business! But, given the rate of development around them, I wonder if they'll sell soon too? Sad....

I live far away in CT but still hated to read this thread about the disappearance of an (another) independent nursery up in NH. Buying plants from the big box stores does not always mean they were grown near you and are right for your zone or that they've been well cared for. Plus, it's important to support local businesses.

Grasshoppers garden center is an independent garden center on river rd in New Boston not far from uncanonnuc perennials. Sad to see Nettie closing up, we sent customers back and forth for each other if we did not have something.

Newbury Perennial Gardens is another great nursery that closed when the owners retired. But we still have Lake Street, another to patronize so they stay open.

After just learning about and visiting Uncanoonuc last year, I am sad to hear they are closing as so many good places have closed over the last few years. Fortunately, one of my favorite places is still in business. Rainbow Mums and Perennials in Carlisle, Ma. Great stuff there. Family owned and everything grown there. Not many of these places left.

just saw a facebook post that all plants at the nursery are 25% off but a sale wasn't mentioned in their recent newsletter. I would call to check before traveling a distance.

Definitely a 25% off sale. Hardly any shrubs left but a good choice of perennials including shade lovers.
