About 10 days ago I tried starting 4 new Weigela plants. I placed 7 stems (w/o the foliage except for 2-3 leaves), used a rooting hormone and soil that had rooted numerous others plants in the past. I used plastic milk jugs with many holes at the bottom for drainage. I have kept them outside in the shade but w/o a "greenhouse dome". Within a few days the few leaves I have started wilting and they all look terrible. I also did this very same process with some mallow poppy and all but 1 has severely wilted leaves.

I have had success in the past just tossing weigela into the ground but for the life of me, I can't remember if they went through the shriveled up stage or not. It seems useless to have leaves if they are shriveled up. I gave these plants a lot more "love" since I really want them to grow. Should I start over again and make a "greenhouse"?
