Possible Rosette Disease?

Please help! I'm fairly new to growing roses, we bought a house a year and a half ago and I planted a few around the house. I have two plants showing very tall red growth and aren't blooming as well as they were the first year. If anyone could take a look at the photos and tell me if this is normal growth or diseased? Im so worried! Thank you very much

Photo number one looks just fine in my opinion anyway.

Photo number two is a bit odd but the cane is turning green and nothing stands out as rrd looking. Well except that it seems to be growing so fast that it hasn't developed leaves. The places where leaves should be also appear to not be evenly spaced. Are these different canes? Do you get red canes in spring? More important what are the names of the roses. Are they climbers? Where are you located?

I said everything a bit out of order but oh well.

Thank you so much for your help, I am fairly new to growing roses and I don't remember the exact name. I attached a photo of the flowers in bloom. They are not climbers, they were planted last year. I dont think I get too many red canes in the spring, but if I can remember correctly, I got red canes last summer and early fall. These are two different plants, same roses next to each other, so yes two different canes. The second photo appears to have more thorns than the first, but im not sure what that means. I was battling a lot of aphids last year and in the spring but they appear to be gone. I can take better pictures if you need me to.

I agree with Patti W. Those photos look OK. I am not seeing the excessive thorniness and broom that I associate with RRD.

First I like to say wow that is one beautiful rose. Since it appears to be a hybrid tea or grandiflora. Growing taller than expected in the second year is not unusual. From your pruning and storm shelter you appear to be from a warmer climate than mine. Yet also in tornado alley. At this time all I can say is keep an eye on them. As nothing shows that is overly concerning.

Welcome to the roes forum. The people here have always been wonderfully kind and helpful. I was a member back when it was GardenWeb and meet some amazing gardeners.

Your rose looks very healthy and new growth is often a reddish color. We all love photos so share away.

The biggest problem with this forum is the enabling. Very few avid rose lovers ever believe they have enough roses and will help you fall in love with so many roses you never heard about! Enjoy it, it's a fun and very rewarding hobby. Soon we'll have you rooting cuttings, searching for an obscure rose and contemplating hybridizing your own seeds. (Don't try it unless you don't mind a lot of trial and error!)

    So, happy rose growing.
