Whats up now, Ed ?

My early report is that SFT are ripening. Good thing is each one has close to 20 maters. Not bad.

The dark ones (CP, IS , BFT and a mystery one ) Are coming along nicely now.

BAD NEWS: I have pulled a couple of plants and will do it again , some more soon. I figure if after being in the garden for 90 days, they have not set any fruits there is no point in keeping them. In part I blame a bad year for this but still they could not fight the bad weather. Even the famous red varieties ( Big Beef, Better Boy, Big Boy ) are not doing that good either,

sorry to hear about your rough year sey. My hybrids are definitely more healthy now than my OP's. But, I have only axed 2 or 3 plants so far. Funny, my Black From Tula is not dark at all...basically red. It is good, though. My garden was a big hit yesterday at my mother-in-laws 90th birthday party! haha

Good to hear that your garden was a hit. There must have been some ripe tomatoes showing off through the green.

BFT ( and some other so called "blacks" ) are mostly brown/purple. some are a bit darker like Black Krim. I rather call them "DARK" tomatoes.

My BFT all ended up looking like BK. However I did have one BK plant that threw all reddish pink tomatoes this year. Huge, delicious red tomatoes. No idea what happened there, other than it wasn't my fault because I'm not growing any red tomatoes and I was using up the last of the package of store-bought BK seed before it wasn't viable. I saved seed separately from those, but I did save it (they were pretty darned good tomatoes).

Strange. Just to let you know it's not just you, fireduck ;)

You don't need to know too much, as long as you are growing and enjoying the maters.

I was lolly gagging around the garden and counting the green tomatoes. haha

One of the BFT is ribbed and getting bigger by the day. CP and IS doing real good now.

Oh, and I picked my first Better Boy , just at blush.My store bought Tidy Treat is pumping like crazy. But fruits size is small cherry.

I also did some pruning and nipping new suckers.
