For durability and easy-care, marble is not likely the best choice, though it is lovely. When properly sealed, marble is resistant to staining. However, it is still prone to etching if anything acidic (lemonade, ketchup, tomato sauce, vinegar, etc) comes into contact with it. I'm not sure if the above table is made from genuine marble, or a look-alike surface, but the etching is something to be aware of.
