So I'm a new gardener, all I'v grown was watermelon a teen and I just popped a seed in the ground ,watered regularly, and it blew up! So I tried Melons and Jalapeno's this year, a porch grow in containers. Unfortunately we moved 10 days ago, to a 3rd floor apartment, and now only get around 5-6 hours of direct sunlight a day at the moment. I have little hope for the melons, but decided to try and substitute my Jalapeno's with artificial light, so they can get 16 hours of total light, during direct light hours, I let them get that, and before/after I surround them with light. When winter comes ,I plan on bringing my Jalapeno plant inside to at least 'save' it for next year, but if I could get it to still fruit inside that would be awesome! Currently running 2 43w flourescent bulbs (say they are equal to 150w bulbs), when winter comes, I plan on buying at least 2 or 3 more bulbs in this size (can get different bulbs if recommended)
