My last hood was Vent-a-Hood - wall mount, strong and quiet. For this kitchen, got another Vent-a-Hood for island. They are quiet and strong. I'd pick a hood not based on store but on your needs.

We installed a Zephyr insert with baffle filters in a wood range hood last summer. They have wall mounted hoods as well .

From our research, they have good reviews and good customer service.

I wouldn't say it's the quietest around (but not extremely noisy either) but it works great and I simply remove the baffles and clean them in the dishwasher. Easy peasy .:-)

Zephyr has an informative website .We ordered ours through Build.com .

Another vote for zypher - I have the Siena hood and am very happy with it. I recommend going to a good appliance store if you have any. It was really helpful to be able to listen to them in person.

Vent-A-Hood for us! We purchased it through our KD/Contractor. Yes, I really like it. It's easy to clean - take out two screws and pop it in the DW (or hand-wash in the sink - either one will work).

We bought a Zephyr Siena for our new build but it's not installed yet. I ordered all our appliances through a local appliance store.
