hard to say for sure, but my guess would be just some over-watering with the rain. its usually a good idea to remove some of the lower branches especially those that are touching the ground. helps reduce the chances of picking up some soil-borne disease and improves airflow......so just prune those branches off.

also in time the bottom leaves do go yellow as they get less sun and the plant transfers nutrients (nitrogen, magnesium) from the older parts of the plant to the growing bits.

Agree with the comment above. Once fruit starts to set, you will see some die-off of the lower leaves.

That is normal as the plant and leaves get older. Over watering may also contribute to that.

I would just prune those and anything that is too close to the soil..

Hm, thanks for the input. I guess I was concerned because it happened overnight. Good to know its nothing to worry about.

Water logging will affect nitrogen absorption (also heavy rains will kinda wash it away), which will be relocated to new growth and older leaves will be left kinda generalized yellow. They can recover if not gone completely yellow when nitrogen supply returns.
