AKA Polygonum persicaria or P maculosa, Smartweed.

Thanks! Nobody I talked to who gardens here had any clue.

Once "Embothrium" told me it's persicaria, I was able to also find maculosa bared the closest resemblance, to which there is no real advantage of growing.

At any rate, it's not even close to a willow or a perennial shrub, and now I'm a bit sad and embarrassed that I have this plant in a container this whole time, heh-heh.

Ah well, it was one of those volunteer plants that looked interesting... you win some you lose some.

Those pink things are its' blooms and soon will drop a lot of seeds. If you've had your fill, you probably want to get rid of it before that happens. Agree, it IS an interesting looking plant, but not one I want in my garden either.
