A Little Treat for Old Friends

Thought I would share some pictures with my old buddies from trivia days whom I miss and also with all you others! I am in France right now (Bourgogne this week, Normandie and Bretagne next week). This are not the best photos, but I hope you enjoy them nonetheless! We are renting a gite and this garden belongs to the owner. It is a walled garden at the end of the lane separate from the house. I need to take a picture of the faded blue door that is the entrance. He has a bed and chairs in the tower and we found a book left near his chair in the garden. Sigh. I do believe I am meant to live in France. Sadly, no one else seems to think that. Ha.

I agree.....sigh......we all need a walled garden. Thanks so much for sharing these photos. There's something about European walled gardens and their whole design. Walls, towers, big doors, water.......you must be in heaven with those gardens!

This is the wall behind the houses-river on left, my room is large window on left which looks out to river and fields beyond. Middle picture is just to the left of the door into the 'secret garden' as I think of it.

I wish I was there with you Cyn, it looks absolutely charming. A stone walled garden, be still my heart. This has always been a dream of mine sighhhhh.

Yes, a walled garden is exactly what I want. Sadly, walling in our backyard would probably cost as much as this trip! Points, use your points for the flight, rent a gite, and not expensive at all really, as long as you don't spend time in Paris!

Lily, that arbor is at the very back of the garden next to the wall, but it certainly beckons you to explore further, doesn't it? I may need to bribe my husband into creating something like that in our yard. I would love that feeling that there is something beyond.

Hi, TM! So glad you popped in. I am not a regular poster here anymore, but I do lurk. Yes, the stone walls are perfect for setting off gardens. Poor DH when I explain the absolute necessity of building one (or four-ha). :-)

Cyn - just came in myself and saw this! How lovely - The gardens you see when you travel as so wonderful and different to our own. I am sure the rose smell wonderful. I always seem to travel in shoulder season and miss the peak of European gardens. Thanks for sharing.
