Removing stucco

Hi we're buying a home with a large family room addition. It's all permitted but a couple walls have an odd river rock pattern. We figured out they didn't remove the old stucco exterior of the house when they put on the addition, they just out the river rock over the top. So I have two walls that will need to have the stucco removed and drywall added. Anyone have any idea how hard this will be and or what it will cost? Is it simple or am I looking at thousands of dollars? Thank you.

Why remove it at all? Fur over it and drywall.

I don't know. ha. So it would be acceptable to remove the rock and have someone just drywall over the top of the stucco?

Why remove the rock?

Do the walls have windows and doorways? If so, wouldn't adding fur strips and drywall over the top add thickness to the walls that would affect the openings?

Removing the rock because it's ugly and poorly done. They fall off the wall randomly, and have no grout or whatever in between the rocks.

There is a doorway in one wall. No windows.
