I would definitely not try to diy.

The stairs the framer put in are to let the workers move between floors your actual stairs do not go on top they are made custom for your space and made and installed by pros this is a very difficult DIY even for builders , they hire stair pros.

DIY = painting cabinets or tiling floors. Highly technical projects that involve 8-12 different codes (such as stairs, electrical and pluming) = leave it to the professionals.

If you wish to do DIY, please take 24 months and go to a Technical Trades School that offers Finishing Carpentry. Then take 24-36 months as an Apprentice to learn how to build a stair case to code while under the supervision of a Red Seal or Master Carpenter. Once you have finished your 60 months (5 years) of training/learning, you are welcome to DIY a curved stair case.

If you don't have 5 years to do all of this training, please let someone else handle it. Stairs have some if the BIGGEST issues (which is why they are so D@MN expensive to build) and they cost the MOST should something go wrong (lawsuits against the homeowner are BIG with "bad stairs").

Please choose another project to "help out" with.

Agree with the first post, if you have to ask....please don't do it. I'm all for DIY but ONLY if you have the knowledge and experience to do it. Don't take the risk on something so important as a stairway.
